Happy Monday,
The weeks keep flying by! I feel like I just wrote one of these... Hugo has been going through a lot of trials recently. That always happens when baptismal dates draw near... 'Tis the worst. He is pushing through it though and told us that he knows it is all happening for a reason. Please keep him in your prayers.
I went on an exchange with an adorable Hermana in my zone. We worked hard, got tortas for her first time, and she even finished a Coke for the first time ever. We met this little lady from Pakistan. She could barely speak English but took us over to her house and gave us Sprite on a fancy dish. She was so humble and even though we couldn't communicate very well, we didn't have to. She was so Christlike and a perfect reminder to me of charity. That night we had a really sweet lesson with one of Hugo's friends. It was the kind of lesson that
every missionary dreams of. He said that when we first met him, he had been going through a lot of hardships and he knew God put us in his path to help him. He said at the end of the lesson that he's going to ask his boss if he can start getting work off on Sundays. :) We found another really prepared family as well that we taught this week. They have three kids and are a really tight knit family. The Lord keeps putting all these prepared people in our path. It's so crazy.
My companion is finishing her mission this week :( We've had some good times together and she's taught me a lot. So many fun little things happened this past week with her: we had a foosball tournament with a member, we helped a guy out that had a concussion at Jack in the Box, found a family, got tacos, etc. it's the little things.
All the missionaries around the world had a broadcast with a few general authorities this Wednesday. Speaking of the Savior, Neil L Andersen said to "always keep His name on your lips." I have tried my best to put that into practice this week and I have seen immediate blessings. It seems as though everyone wants to listen to us now. I know He died for me, but more importantly I know that He overcame that death. He lives and his infinite atonement is available to us always. Reading the Book of Mormon is the easiest way to learn more of his
perfect atonement and how we can use it. I love Heavenly Father and my Savior more than I can explain and without them I am nothing.
"We testify that He will someday return to earth. 'And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together' (Isaiah 40:5). He will rule as King of Kings and reign as Lord of Lords, and every knee shall bend and every tongue shall speak in worship before Him. Each of us will stand to be judged of Him according to our works and the desires of our hearts."

Toupee
I love the woodlands! We live in a national forest so every morning we get to run through the woods. The Stars can be seen so well. It's really beautiful.
Every week us and the elders in our ward get to do service at an activity center for adults with special needs. We play games with them and stuff like that. It's the best and they are so cute. One of them told me that my hair looks like a wig... I mean, at least she's honest.
Hugo will be baptized on the 6th of February! He wanted to wait for a few more months but told us this weekend that he wants to forget his past and move on. Cute, right?
On my year mark I went on an exchange with the Hermana that I trained! We went knocking all day and found a ton of new people to teach! It was a blast. We saw so many miracles this weekend. Everything fell into place at the last minute and worked out. It was a reminder to me that I need to include the Lord more in the work.
As a mission we are focusing on the Book of Mormon and how to help our investigators understand the importance and veracity of it. If my mission has taught me one thing, it is how essential the Book of Mormon is to a happy life and more importantly, salvation. It is the only way to ensure spiritual safety.

The Gospel Blesses Families
I had the opportunity to attend a funeral this week. It was so amazing to see the optimism and understanding of the family. They talked about the plan of salvation as well as the temple. It was so cool to hear the words of the family and especially the words of her husband. It reminded me of Grandma and Grandpa's funeral and the bittersweet feeling that I felt then. Families can be together forever.
I had a really sweet experience the other day. I had the feeling to visit a few girls we teach the other day. We went over and something had happened within the family. The girls were devastated. We sang hymns with them and ate ice cream and after, they gave us the biggest hugs ever. I felt the Savior's love for them in the moment so
strongly.
Heavenly Father taught me so much about the family this week. It is the source of all the happiness I have in my life. I am so grateful that I am sealed to my family forever. I gain so much strength from that. I am grateful that I get to help others have their families for the eternities.

upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ."

New Yearssss
Feliz año nuevo!
I was sick all week so I saw a little bit too much of the Doctor as well as the back of my eyelids as I rested. I have something just short of a tapeworm. Though all of that happened, on Sunday the Lord blessed us with 4 new investigators and we saw a lot of blessings.
On Saturday night a Russian woman took us out to sushi. She was so entertaining and the whole time I thought about Clarie and was jealous because she gets to talk to these people everyday. I would just like to say that my Russian accent is on point. I sound exactly like that woman.
New Year's Eve was fun! We went over to the Gasca's house and had tamales and played spoons. It was a blast. Hispanic traditions are a little strange but thankfully they didn't make us do too many of the more bizarre ones.
Speaking of the new year... I read a really cool talk this week by M. Russell Ballard:
"I am so thoroughly convinced that if we don't set goals in our life
and learn how to master the technique of living to reach our goals, we
can reach a ripe old age and look back on our life only to see that we
reached but a small part of our potential."

Half of this year will be spent here on the mission and half will be spent out in the real world. Talking with a few family members, I realized how important it is to create both temporal and spiritual goals. My greatest desire is to become more like my Savior and I know the goals I'm setting will get me there. I am so grateful that I am serving a mission. It has helped me so much in my present life and I know it will continue blessing me in the years to come as well as the eternities. It is shaping me into the person I hope to one day become.
The Lord is so good.

Feliz Navidad!
Feliz navidad!
This past week went by so fast but was so fun. On Tuesday we were on our way to an appointment and starting talking to a guy that had just moved here from Honduras. He told us that he would love to come to church. On Sunday Hugo brought him and his daughter! Speaking of Hugo... This week we taught him the plan of salvation and set a baptismal date with him for the 16th of January. I'm so excited.
On Christmas Eve we ate tamales and went caroling with a big group of missionaries in the woodlands. We showed the new church video and talked to a bunch of people. On Christmas we didn't eat tamales but one of my favorite families from my last ward came up to my area and made us dinner. It was so fun and so good to see them again. Talking to the family was really good. I love you guys.
A few weeks ago we went to the temple and were challenged by our mission president to pray and receive guidance as to what we could give to the savior this year. He spoke to us again a few days ago and told us that what we should give is our best. That was the answer I received in the temple. I am striving to give my all to show my gratitude. I have seen so many miracles this week and I know it is because I have given my all to the Lord. I have received so much more than I have given.
